Choosing one main color for a home can create a cohesive, unified look and make it easier to coordinate different elements in the space. However, that doesn't mean you have to stick to just one color. We can still create variety and interest by incorporating different shades and hues of the same color, or by adding complementary accent colors.
When we choose one main color, it's important to consider its undertones and how it will look in different lighting conditions. For example, a warm beige color might look different in a room with lots of natural light than it would in a room with artificial light. Testing out our paint samples can help us get a better sense of how a color will look in different parts of the home.
When it comes to choosing a natural paint color for an open space home with west and east facing rooms, there are several options. Here are a few ideas:
-
Beiges: A light, creamy beige can create a warm and inviting atmosphere while still maintaining a natural feel. This is a great choice of natural colors as you don't like gray.
-
Creams: If you want something even warmer, we can consider a cream colors. This can work particularly well in a space with a lot of natural light, as it will reflect the sunlight and create a bright, airy feeling.
-
Soft greens: A soft green color can create a natural feel while also adding a bit of color to the space. This is a great choice if you want to bring in some color but still keep things natural.
-
Taupe: If you want a bit of depth to their paint color, taupe shade can be considered (you told me you don't like taupe...). This can work well in a space with lots of natural wood or other natural textures, as it will create a sense of warmth and coziness.
Ultimately, the best color will depend on personal preferences and the specific details of your home. We have to make sure to take into account factors like the amount of natural light in the space and existing decor or furnishings when making decisions.

We have fixed elements in your kitchen, like brown countertops, it's important to choose colors for the walls, floors, and kitchen cabinets that go/complement these elements and create a cohesive, balanced look. Here are some color suggestions to consider:
-
Walls: Depending on the amount of natural light in the space, you might consider a warm, neutral wall color that complements the brown countertops. Colors like beige, cream, or light gray (not an option:) can create a soft, inviting backdrop for the kitchen. If you want to add some depth or interest, we could consider a darker, richer color like a muted green or blue.
-
Floors: For the kitchen floors, a natural wood or wood-look material like hardwood or engineered wood could work well with the brown countertops. Alternatively, a light or medium-toned could also complement the brown countertops and create a clean look.
-
Kitchen cabinets: If you want to create a light and airy feel in the kitchen, we can consider choosing white or off-white cabinets. These colors can complement the brown countertops while creating a bright, fresh atmosphere. Alternatively, if you prefer a darker, richer look, wood-tone cabinet in a shade that coordinates with the brown countertops. For example, a rich cherry or walnut wood like stain (more expensive option) can create a warm, cozy feel in the kitchen.
