The Full Story

Old World Charm

Why we love old houses? They convey history and charm.

They were built to last, built slowly and methodically, usually by the people who planned to live there for generations. These houses were hand built and not mass produced.  Usually, they have lots of character and original details, and of course it's a luxury to own one of those homes where details are preserved and still in the good condition.

Observation

Furniture is not proportionally scaled.  Table moved from the center of the room by owner to create better walking flow. Some of Original Trim and doors been replaced by newer which are different species of wood and painted to match existing. Poorly done and need to be improved. Lots of plaster walls and ceiling needs repairs. Wall colors recommended to change to update. Celling to re-paint by flat finish to hide imperfections of the plaster.

Based on the budget fix, re-place, paint woodwork to create cohesive look. Preserve and refinish what can be re-stored. Re-design kitchen area. Open the wall between Dining Room and Kitchen. Build kitchen cabinets which fit the style of the home and look like ensemble with original built-in buffet.  Add cabinets with drawers and counter space. Add island. Add built-in storage unit in

the Mud Room. Replace tile floor in the kitchen to match the rest of the main level's floor for cohesive and continues look to visually expand the space.

Replace furniture to the scale and shape appropriate to the room.
